Training for Supervisors
PPR-AS training sessions for Supervisors guidelines and suggestions for conducting PPR-AS meetings with staff, offering examples of approaches for the PPR cycle.
Target Group
Under section 9.2.9 of the QUT MOPP, all Supervisors involved in the PPR-AS process must attend training prior to conducting PPR-AS discussions with their staff. If a supervisor has professional staff reporting to them, then the PPR-PS procedure must be followed.
Session Details
The session runs for approximately two hours and provides the supervisor with:
- An opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with colleagues
- Guidelines and suggestions for conducting PPR-AS meetings with staff
- Example PPR-AS Activity Statements
- Examples of approaches to use when initiating the PPR cycle
- Other relevant information and materials

Information Sessions for Staff
PPR-AS sessions will be held in association with Faculties to assist academic staff in managing professional goals by making PPR-AS a positive addition to career management and to help improve QUT’s performance culture through understanding the policy, process and linkages to the university. The Faculty-specific approach ensures that the PPR process is relevant and timely and will involve discussion about the structure of the PPR-AS process, including:
- Preparatory Work – including the importance of goal setting
- Performance Planning Discussion – Faculty priorities in regards to teaching, research and service
- Performance review – including receiving feedback
- Support and resources available

Dates for 2009 will be published shortly.
Sessions are offered on request and organised within the Faculty. Details of each session along with information on how to register will be emailed to Academic Staff approximately four weeks prior to the session. Alternatively, Heads of School or Supervisors of Academic Staff can contact the Program Manager to discuss setting up a session.
