Staff Entitlements

Terms and conditions of employment are contained in the University’s Enterprise Agreements.  QUT is covered by three separate agreements which apply to academic staff, professional staff and senior staff.  For further information, please visit the University’s Employment Agreements website.

Salary and Allowances

Staff salaries and allowances are paid in accordance with QUT’s Enterprise Agreements.  For further information on salary scales and allowances, please visit Salary Scales and Allowances.

Superannuation

QUT provides superannuation coverage for all new staff by contributing to UniSuper and does not currently offer a Choice of Superannuation Fund

All staff members who have an appointment of 12 months or more are eligible for maximum superannuation coverage of 17% of gross salary.  Staff members who have an appointment of less than 12 months are eligible for the superannuation guarantee contribution of 9% of ordinary times earnings.

Leave

QUT provides a number of leave entitlements to assist staff in maintaining a balance in their work and non-work life.  Basic entitlements for staff (excluding casual professional and sessional academic staff) can include:

  • 4 weeks recreation leave plus 17% leave loading (5 weeks for continuous shift workers) per annum;
  • 10 days sick/carer’s leave per annum;
  • 7 days personal leave per annum;
  • 2 days paid compassionate leave per occasion;
  • Up to 26 weeks paid parental leave comprising of maternity, primary carer parental leave, or adoption leave;
  • Up to 10 days paid partner leave;
  • Up to 14 weeks paid primary carer parental leave; and
  • 13 weeks long service leave on completion of 10 years continuous service.

Note: Part-time staff accrue entitlements on a proportionate basis.
