Supporting QUT's vision with leading information technology services in partnership with the QUT community.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

The QUT Web Team leads QUT’s web development and management processes to ensure the University’s public presence is client-focused, provides easy access to relevant, accurate and well-presented information and conveys an image consistent with the University’s corporate identity and positioning.

The Web Team manages QUT’s central web infrastructure, website template, search engine, web statistics reporting and enterprise wiki (Confluence).

Some of the key challenges for the role will be:

  • Improving usability and the visual design of the wiki.
  • Developing and conduct training to meet the growing demand for more advanced training.
  • Helping the research and learning & teaching community to develop a business case and set of requirements for establishing separate wiki services to support their growing individual business needs.
  • Working with the QUT Web Team Leader to improve management of the Wiki Service in line with the Service Management Framework.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

You will be responsible for:

  • Ongoing application management and maintenance of the QUT Wiki (Confluence)
  • Assisting with the development of standards and governance.
  • Wiki design and development work including custom-built Confluence plugins and global templates.
  • Client support including user support materials.
  • Coordination and development of training.
  • Monitoring of trends and best practice, and providing recommendations to the QUT Web Team Leader on future directions.
  • Expert advice to help clients achieve the best outcomes for their users.
  • Identifying business and functional requirements and make recommending to the QUT Web Team Leader for service improvements.
  • In conjunction the QUT Web Team Leader, improve service management practices and documentation associated with central wiki services.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

To be assessed via applicant’s resume.

  1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of an Information Technology degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES REQUIRED

You will be assessed on the basis of relevant capability and capacity for the following:

  1. Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, implementing, managing and administering large-scale web based information systems in accordance with industry standards (e.g. W3C) and using recognised frameworks and methodology (e.g. user centred design, project management, ITIL).
  2. Demonstrated interpersonal and oral communication skills that demonstrate a capacity to work with internal and external stakeholders and support users of QUT Web Teamservices.
  3. Written communication skills that demonstrates experience writing user and technical documentation, research papers and reports.
  4. Ability to develop and conduct user-effective training.

DESIRABLE

  1. Service management experience or experience working within an industry recognised service management framework (e.g. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)).

  • The incumbent may be required to be contactable and/or work hours outside the normal work hours.

This positions is located in the ‘Positions open only to Australian domestic applicants’ section. This positions is only open to Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents (or applicants who are legally entitled to work in Australia).

This position is fixed-term and applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents or hold a temporary visa at the time of the closing date for the duration of the fixed-term appointment allowing the applicant to work the required hours set out for the period of the fixed term appointment.
