Workforce planning is the process of getting the right staff in the right job at the right time.
What is Involved
It involves:
- Determining the current staffing situation
- Forecasting the demand for staff
- Forecasting the future supply of staff
- Planning the programs necessary to ensure that the there is the right mix of employees and skills when and where they are needed.
It is a continuous process that gives managers direction in order to establish a workforce supportive of the University’s mission, strategic plan, budgetary resources and desired workforce capabilities.
Who is Involved
To identify current demands, Workforce Planning works closely with Training and Development, Finance and Resource Planning, and individual Faculties and Divisions.
Forecasting future supply involves liaising with the above areas as well as using external sources such benchmarking and industry analysis to identify trends.
In order to ensure that the right mix of people and skills are employed, we work closely with departments and programs such as:

- Corporate Performance

- Strategic Information and Analysis
