The eRecruitment Implementation Project is an initiative of the Human Resources Department.
Project Background
In July 2008, the HR Department made a submission to the Registrar on the growing recruitment challenges faced by QUT. This included the risk posed to all areas in maintaining support and service delivery, increasing our research capacity and the challenges in regenerating the workforce as outlined in the QUT Blueprint and People and Culture Plan.
Approval was given from the Registrar to commence a tender process for the implementation of an eRecruitment solution as part of addressing our recruitment challenges.
In August 2008, the HR Department called for tenders and received six tender proposals. After an extensive evaluation process, NGA.NET (http://www.nga.net/) has been engaged by the University to implement the eRecruitment software primarily as a consequence of their functionality, experience in the university sector and the demonstrated potential to enhance our recruitment business processes.
About eRecruitment
The eRecruitment project aims to maximise the university’s opportunity to locate, quickly respond to, and appoint quality candidates. In addition it will assist in streamlining and automating operational work associated with the selection and appointment processes within the university.
Implementation of an eRecruitment solution will have a number of benefits including:
- addressing the views of HR clients regarding the need to move away from paper-based recruitment administration and therefore significantly reducing time spent on non-value add administration
- allowing candidates to apply for positions online through a simpler and quicker application process which will include automated acknowledgements and the ability to keep track of their individual application status throughout the recruitment process
- providing the university with the capacity to be more responsive to candidates and therefore more competitive
- assisting managers and supervisors to better manage the relationship with candidates through improved communication processes
- introducing the capacity to build talent pools to source future staff for future vacancies.
The Project Team will report to the HR IT Steering Committee. A Reference Group comprising representatives from the key user groups will be established to assist with the consultation and implementation phases of the process.
