Email Advertising
With the increasing demand for fixed term staff throughout the University, we encourage organisational areas to utilise the e-mail network for advertising fixed term opportunities for up to twelve months for professional staff and up to two years for research staff.
If it is likely that the position would extend beyond a twelve month appointment (or two years for research staff), the position must be evaluated and advertised in accordance with the normal recruitment and selection policy and procedure.
Please note that under no circumstances can staff be advised that a renewal of appointment beyond this timeframe is possible.
EOI Procedure
Prior to any expression of interest being sent you must contact your HR Advisor and provide them with the draft expression, including a duty statement and selection criteria.
This is a mandatory requirement to ensure that the position is suitable to be an expression of interest and that the classification of the position is correct.
Additionally the position may be suitable for redeployment opportunities. If the position is deemed suitable for redeployment you will be contacted by the Senior HR Officer (Employee Relations).
Once the expression of interest has been given approval from your HR Advisor, the relevant Authorising Officer (or nominee - see delegations of authority) can email it to the University employment interest group – qut.employment@qut.edu.au
Note: qut.employment@qut.edu.au is an email subscription list. To subscribe to receive these emails follow the below instructions:
- Log on QUT Virtual
- Scroll down to “Interest Groups” under the “Administration” tab
- Click on “Manage staff subscription interest groups”
- Click on “Subscribe to a staff subscription group”
- Select the QUT Employment Email List from the drop down menu option
- Click on “Subscribe.
Format for Expression of Interest
The following lists the information you need to include when advertising any short-term vacancies or secondment opportunities.
To assist organisational areas in creating a draft expression, below is an example of:
- an EOI open only to internal QUT staff (.doc (27kb), .pdf (15kb))
- an EOI open to both internal QUT staff and people external to the University (.doc (27kb), .pdf (15kb))
The decision to open an EOI to QUT staff only, or open to both internal QUT staff and people external to the University, is made by the organisational area in consultation with the Authorising Officer (or nominee).
