Laboratory Safety Checklist
This checklist applies to 'wet labs' being those labs with supplies of gases, chemicals or specimen organisms but not those rooms containing only electronic equipment. Staff of equipment labs should complete the Plant and Equipment Checklist.
Plant and Equipment Safety Checklist
This checklist applies to all rooms/ locations with plant and equipment for operational use. That is, the only exclusions are items under the control of Facilities Management such as air conditioning plant, lift mechanisms, and plant rooms at a corporate level. Staff of 'wet labs' should also complete the Laboratory Safety Checklist, realising that, in a university, the word 'laboratory' refers to many situations other than 'wet labs', eg. rooms stocked with computers, simulated hospital wards, a greenhouse, an earthquake test facility and so on which do not need to complete the laboratory checklist, but will need to follow this Plant and Equipment model.
