A wide range of teaching and research activities is undertaken at QUT, involving the use of biological, microbiological, biomedical and biochemical material. There is a need to ensure the health and well being of staff, students ( the QUT community including visitors) and the environment. This is achieved at QUT through risk management and approval process adopted by Faculties, Schools, administrative and operational Divisions. Relevant committee consideration is carried out by QUT Ethics Committee, Faculty and School Health and Safety Committees and QUT Institutional Biosafety Committee (Office of Gene Technology Related) as appropriate with decisions on compliance with State and Commonwealth regulatory authorities being determined.
