These sessions are designed for academic staff seeking promotion this year or in subsequent rounds. Promotion Committee members are also encouraged to attend.

From 2008 separate processes will be in place for promotion to level B and for promotion to levels C, D and E. Separate information sessions will be conducted for the two processes. Details on the time and format of the session will be posted to this website as available.

These sessions will provide you with information on QUT’s promotion policy and process.

Promotion Information Sessions for promotion to Levels C, D and E are conducted in February/March each year. Information presented at the 2008 sessions is available at the links below.

You can register on-line for the Information Sessions, through StaffConnect.

Go to: https://qutvirtual.qut.edu.au

  1. Follow the link to StaffConnect.
  2. From the StaffConnect main menu, select INDIVIDUAL
  3. Select TRAINING, then TRAINING REQUEST.
  4. Click on ADD NEW RECORD to view list of courses.
  5. Select APD - ACADEMIC CAREER DEVELOPMENT
  6. Select PROMN - PROMOTION SESSIONS FOR ACADEMIC STAFF
  7. Nominate for the session you wish to attend.
A manual application form can also be downloaded, if you are unable to register on-line.

Participants should familiarise themselves with QUT’s Promotion Policy and Criteria.

Promotion Writing Workshops

This workshop is a generic and faculty neutral workshop aimed at academics applying for promotion to levels C, D or E. The workshop objectives are to:

  • Provide applicants for promotion with a logical framework for presenting their case;
  • Provide academic staff with the skills required to address and respond to selection criteria in a generic structure; and
  • Provide a forum for the sharing of advice on application preparation.

2008 closing dates

The closing date for applications for promotion to Levels D and E in 2008 will be 19 May.

Closing dates for promotion to Level C are set by the Faculty Promotion Committees. For further information, contact the Secretary to your Faculty Promotion Committee.
